A sleepy, little town that carries the same name as the province, Satun is not a heavily touristic area.  For most travelers, they would not even know where it is on the map. For me, the first time I heard of the region, I was thinking Saturn, the planet with the rings.  Well, it might as well be like Saturn because running into other travelers is about as frequent as close encounters of the third kind.  The far southern region of Thailand does not get...

One of the many joys of traveling is the cornucopia of foods to tantalize your palate.  Just walk along any busy road or slip in any side street, and you will surely find something that will get your senses perked up.  Your pupils start to dilate and you are hypnotized by all the choices. Your mouth salivates to the tasty morsels that are displayed before your eyes.  You take a whiff of the rich smells emanating from the stalls, and it is at this very...

I finally made my way to the beaches.  Pangkor Island is located northwest of KL.  It took over five hours to get here on the bus, and then caught a short ferry ride.  Even though it is the peak season, you would never know that by being here.  The beaches are almost deserted and there are a lot of empty rooms in the guesthouses.  That always bodes well for me since I like to negotiate hard.   The island is not that big at all.  It is about 8 square...

Hindu Temple (Chinatown) - Malaysia
In the cover of darkness we landed in KL safely after a six-hour, red-eye flight out of Seoul. When the doors of the plane opened and as I walked down the steps, I was immediately welcomed with that warm, balmy weather that I knew so well.  With a little drizzle of warm droplets gently kissing me on my weary face, the Siberian cold blast from the North was a distant memory at best.  And for that brief moment as I was making my way to the main arrival terminal, I...

Today, my brother decided to help me artificially age some of my artwork by singeing the edges slightly. Apparently "my brother set fire to my homework" isn't a valid excuse. FMLinKorea
Today, I had to drop off my library book. I thought I'd dropped in into the library book drop, but I'd accidentally put it in the post office mail box. To get the book back, I had to explain this incident five times to three librarians, a mailman, and my sister who called me ridiculous. FMLinKorea
Today, my father reorganized our fridge for the World Cup. He cleared everything out and filled it with beer and chips. FMLinKorea
Today, thinking we'd still be able to finish our project in time for tomorrow's deadline, my work group put off doing any work until today. When we logged into the website we have to use, we found it was down for maintenance all day. FMLinKorea
